Capitol Event Theatre Wedding with Ashleigh & Bry, Toronto

Today’s blog post is a bit of a confessional….

Forgive me, for I have sinned and held back this blog post on purpose.  You see, Ashleigh and Bry’s wedding was so meaningful and special that I wanted this post to be flawless.  I spent many hours choosing which photos to use to tell their story today.  There was one point where I nearly considered posting every single photo because I wanted to show all their emotional moments.  Now, I’m not typically emotional during weddings…..

This brings me to confession #2:  there are certain photos in this set that still choke me up.  I know, I know….wedding photographers *should* be immune to showing these emotions.  Most times I am, but with Ashleigh and Bry’s day, everything aligned so perfectly and I teared up on more than one occasion.

I mean, here’s how my day played out:

My day started at Ashleigh’s childhood home.  Taking photos of her dress and details in the same place where her and her twin sister grew up.  While I was upstairs photographing the details where they used to play, I could hear the girls downstairs laughing and carrying on.  I imagined this is what it used to sound like many years ago.  The house was alive with so many memories including childhood photos of her father, baby booties and antiques that show evidence of some fun stories.

Then there was the walk up the street to the church.  It has always been Ashleigh’s dream to have her dad walk her to the church which was only 3 doors down.  Another touching moment to see play out.

The walk down the isle?…don’t even get me started!

After the ceremony, we did some formal photos and headed to the lovely Capitol Event Theatre  in Toronto for the reception, where I was greeted by a lovely surprise: posters of our engagement shoot featuring Ashleigh and Bry with credits listed like a real movie poster.  Certainly an epic compliment to our hard work – the graphic designer did an amazing job!

Once we got inside the Capitol Event Theatre, we were not disappointed.  This place is huge and completely gorgeous!  With the mood lighting, the heavy stage curtains and the grand chandelier all hidden inside you’d never know it, but this old school-theatre-turned-event-venue is an oasis in the city.  Like Ashleigh’s childhood home, this place carries much history making it the perfect backdrop for their celebration!  During the evening every detail was watched and even your napkins are refolded if you need to leave the table for some reason.  The food is delicious and I hear their house wine is fantastic (I never drink at weddings, so I can`t give a full review on the vino).

Anyway, I could go on and on and on about their day, but I’ll let the photos do the rest of the story telling.  Hope you love it as much as I do!

Ashleigh`s Priscilla of Boston  wedding gown was awesome!  It even came with pockets!!! (as a side, they`re have a sample sale this weekend for all you brides-to-be)

Gotta love how relaxed the father of the bride and the dog are before the big moment:

Here are those amazing posters I was telling you about with my name in the credits!  I love it! (it`s SO cool to see my photos that big!)

Oh gosh that photo ^ gets me every time! A favourite from the day for sure!

BIG BIG BIG Thank you’s to Ashleigh and Bry for sharing their day with me.  Truly an honour to capture those moments for you.
